Term Recap

Since I've been so bad about posting to this blog per my original plan, I will offer a brief recap of my experience so far, and renew my commitment to offering up business tips. So, here goes.

Term A is over. At Pepperdine, the semester is split into two terms, so I have one round of final exams behind me, and have just started a new class lineup. Having successfully completed Economic Concepts, Financial Accounting, Stats, and Organizational Behavior, I'm now into Managerial Economics, Cost Accounting, Information Technology, and Organizational Theory.

The first seven weeks of school can best be characterized by experiences of adjustment and intensity. Adjustment, in that I had not been in school in seven years, and intensity, in that I went through a rigorous set of courses in a very short period of time.

If I could impart one relevant, applicable, digestible, AND overarching concept from the experience I've had so far in business school, it would be this . . .

There is pretty much only one way to succeed, and that is hard work. No lottery tickets, pots of gold, or four-leaf clovers. Many great minds have espoused on the virtues of hard work, so instead of lamely attempting to mimic their wisdom, I will end with this:

I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it. ~Thomas Jefferson
